The long version: Headline distribution via RSS makes it possible to track many more blogs/sites than you could otherwise.
This makes writing headlines a tricky affair, as you want to attract attention but you also want your headlines to be relatively simple and straightforward. My approach is to try to find a way to state the headline in a straightforward yet somewhat clever way (see Dan Bricklin's wikiCalc: Webs of Spreadsheets and Perl6: A LISP for 2010? for examples).
